Tides of Fortune Engrams
All Tides of Fortune engrams — unlock requirements, crafting recipes, Shovel, Shipyard, Sloop, Brigantine, structures, and progression order for ARK naval content.
Engram System Overview
Engrams are craftable recipes that define what items, structures, and equipment you can produce in Tides of Fortune. Each engram unlocks through Genesis Ascended Part 1 milestone progression, with higher-tier recipes requiring deeper investment in the Bob's True Tales content path. DLC ownership is mandatory — non-DLC players cannot learn any Tides of Fortune engram.
Engram unlock order shapes your early gameplay experience. The sequence typically flows: basic tools (Shovel) → harbor structures (Shipyard) → vessel classes (Sloop, then Brigantine) → ship customization tilesets → creature equipment → advanced trade and combat items.
Track your engram progression alongside milestone completion. Milestones award both engram unlocks and Ship Skill points, creating parallel progression tracks that reward efficient objective ordering.
Core Naval Engrams
Shipyard: The foundational harbor structure for ship construction, repair, and docking. Unlock first. Sloop: Fast starter vessel for exploration and combat. Unlock second. Brigantine: Medium warship and cargo vessel. Unlock after Sloop when resources and milestones permit.
These three engrams enable the entire naval gameplay loop. Without them, you cannot participate in Tides of Fortune's signature shipbuilding and sailing content. Resource requirements scale significantly from Sloop to Brigantine — plan material farming before initiating Brigantine unlock.
Tileset structure engrams follow vessel unlocks, enabling ship customization with Aquatic Compartments, storage units, cannon mounts, and cosmetic elements.
Tool and Utility Engrams
Shovel: Essential metal tool for treasure excavation, crop plot improvement, and buried chest management. Unlock early — treasure hunting provides resources that fund subsequent engram progression. Tidepup Saddle: Required for riding evolved Tidepup mount form. Unlock when approaching evolution.
Bonding Feather: Companion bonding item for creature relationships. Treasure Map Bottle: Found item (not crafted) that initiates treasure map waypoints. Listed here for catalog completeness.
Utility engrams become increasingly valuable as your playstyle specializes. Combat players need ammunition recipes, traders need Market engrams, explorers need Aquatic Compartment and Aquarium recipes.
Structure Engrams
Beyond Shipyard, structure engrams include Market (player trading and Hexagon Exchange), Bounty Board (mission tracking), Cargo Ledger (inventory management), Aquarium (Luxury synergy), Aquatic Compartment (tame transport), Buried Treasure Cache (storage), and TOF Lights (illumination).
Harbor structure engrams unlock progressively through milestones. Prioritize Market if running Merchant builds, Bounty Board for mission-focused progression, and Aquarium plus TOF Lights for Luxury builds.
See the structures guide for detailed placement requirements, crafting costs, and harbor layout recommendations.
Recommended Unlock Order
Phase 1 (First Session): Shovel, Shipyard, Sloop. Enables treasure hunting and maiden voyage. Phase 2 (First Week): Tileset structures, Market, Bounty Board, Tidepup Saddle. Expands ship capability and harbor economy. Phase 3 (Mid-Game): Brigantine, advanced tilesets, specialist ammunition, Aquarium, Cargo Ledger.
Adjust ordering based on playstyle. PvP-focused players accelerate ammunition and combat structure engrams. Traders accelerate Market and Cargo Ledger. Explorers accelerate Aquatic Compartment and creature-related engrams.
Every engram unlock should coincide with milestone progress that also awards Ship Skill points. Plan activities that advance both tracks simultaneously for maximum efficiency.
